What began as a full renovation brought together multiple smaller rooms into one open, cohesive kitchen space. The ambition was clear from the outset: create something that felt brighter, cleaner, and more considered — not just functional, but genuinely enjoyable to spend time in.

The original plans included three standard Velux roof windows. Practical, yes — but something was missing. The client wanted more than just daylight. They wanted a feature. Something that would elevate the space rather than simply serve it.

Rather than following the initial specification, the project moved towards a single, larger fixed frameless rooflight — designed to introduce a stronger architectural presence.

From inside, the difference is immediate.

There are no visible frames. No glazing bars interrupting the view. Just a clean opening to the sky, sitting quietly within the ceiling. The result feels considered and uncluttered — a detail that doesn’t demand attention, but naturally draws it.

Having not used Cambridge Skylights before, the decision came down to clarity and reassurance.
