01

Your cover at a glance

Both periods begin on the date your rooflight is delivered or collected. Cover starts automatically: you do not need to register or activate it. Keep your order confirmation or other proof of purchase.

02

What the warranty covers

25 years for the sealed glazing unit

We cover failure of the factory-made insulating glass unit seal that causes moisture, condensation or misting between the panes during the 25-year period. This is the seal within the glazing unit; it is separate from the seal between the rooflight and the building.

Condensation on an accessible inner or outer glass surface is different from moisture trapped between the panes and does not, by itself, establish a unit seal failure.

10 years for defects in materials and manufacture

We cover defects in the rooflight's materials or manufacture arising during the 10-year period. This includes the factory-made glazing assembly, spacer system and factory-applied bonding, and any factory-applied finish supplied as part of your HorizonLite.

Glass cracking, breakage, delamination or separation is covered where caused by a defect in the product's materials or manufacture. Accidental breakage and damage caused by installation or external conditions are excluded as explained below. A claim will be assessed on its evidence; glass breakage alone is not a reason to reject it.

After the first 10 years, the remaining cover under this voluntary warranty is for the unit seal failure described in section 2. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

03

Who is covered and where

This warranty applies to new Cambridge HorizonLite fixed frameless rooflights purchased directly from Cambridge Skylights Limited for installation in the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland. It is available to the original purchaser, whether a consumer or a business.

It does not transfer automatically to another purchaser or property owner. Any transfer of this voluntary warranty must be agreed by us in writing. This does not affect rights that another person may have under the law.

Products from other brands, including FAKRO products and roof lanterns made by other manufacturers, have the warranty terms supplied for those products. We remain responsible for our own legal obligations as the seller; a manufacturer's warranty does not replace those obligations.

04

Installation and care

Cambridge Skylights supplies the rooflight. You appoint and contract with your own installer. We do not provide installation services or guarantee an independent installer's workmanship.

Your installer is responsible for the roof structure and opening, upstand, support, handling and lifting, fitting, and the site-applied sealing, flashing and waterproofing that connect the rooflight to the building. They must follow the instructions applicable to your product and the relevant building requirements.

Use the installation and care instructions supplied or made available for your order. Store, handle and maintain the product appropriately, including using suitable cleaning materials and compatible installation materials. Ask us if any instruction is unclear before work begins.

Installation or maintenance issues affect a warranty claim only to the extent that they caused or contributed to the failure claimed. Using an independent installer does not, by itself, invalidate product cover. Nothing here excludes responsibility we may have for a defective product or incorrect information or instructions we provide.

05

What this voluntary warranty excludes

Subject to your statutory rights, this warranty does not cover the following:

  • Faults caused by incorrect handling, storage, fitting or maintenance, inadequate support, structural movement, unsuitable site-applied materials, or failure to follow the applicable product instructions.
  • Leaks caused by the roof, upstand, roof covering, flashing or site-applied seals, where the supplied rooflight is not defective.
  • Damage caused by impact, falling objects, accidental damage, vandalism, misuse, unauthorised alterations, or repairs that cause the fault.
  • Damage caused by site-related thermal stress, chemical attack, fire, flooding or exceptional weather beyond the conditions for which the product was specified. Ordinary UK weather is not, by itself, an exclusion.
  • Damage caused by walking, standing or placing loads on a product that was not expressly supplied and specified for that use.
  • Surface condensation arising from humidity, ventilation or temperature conditions, where it is not caused by a defect in the supplied product.
  • Normal cosmetic ageing or wear that does not arise from a covered defect. A product's age alone does not exclude a covered seal failure within 25 years or a covered manufacturing defect within 10 years.
  • Natural glass colour differences and reflection patterns do not, by themselves, establish a defect. We will assess any concern against the product description, agreed specification and applicable legal quality requirements. This does not exclude defective glass or damage present when the product was supplied.
06

Installation and other associated costs

The remedy under this voluntary warranty is repair or replacement of the affected product or component, with the transport arrangements described in section 8. It does not include installation services or the cost of removing or refitting a rooflight, scaffolding, cranes, lifting equipment, access works, roofing, making good or redecoration, unless we agree otherwise in writing.

07

How to make a claim

Contact us as soon as reasonably possible after you notice a problem. A covered fault must arise during the relevant warranty period. Reporting it after that period ends does not automatically exclude a fault that can be shown to have arisen within it.

Email contact@cambridgeskylights.co.uk with the subject Warranty claim and include, where available:

  • Your name, contact details and order number or other reasonable proof of purchase.
  • The product size, delivery or collection date, and installation address.
  • A description of the problem, when it was first noticed, and clear photographs or video taken safely.
  • Relevant installation details and any steps already taken to prevent further damage.

If you do not have every detail, contact us anyway. We can help identify the order and explain what information is reasonably needed. An original receipt, warranty card or original packaging is not essential if purchase can otherwise be established.

You can also call 01223 782 348 or write to the registered office in section 11. We can help record your claim and will give you reasonable time to provide further information. Any effect of a reporting delay will be assessed fairly, including whether it caused avoidable additional damage or prevented a reasonable investigation.

08

How we assess and resolve a claim

We may reasonably request further photographs, relevant installation information, safe access for inspection, or return of the affected product or component where necessary. We will explain what is needed and agree arrangements before any return. We will not require you to arrange unsafe access or incur inspection charges without prior agreement.

Keep the affected product or parts where it is safe and practical to do so. If urgent work or disposal is necessary for safety or to prevent further damage, take photographs and preserve useful evidence where reasonably possible. Necessary emergency action does not automatically invalidate your claim.

We will assess the evidence fairly and explain our decision. For an accepted claim, we will repair the affected product or component or supply a replacement free of charge within a reasonable time. We will arrange and pay for reasonable transport needed for an accepted claim, including any agreed return for inspection and delivery of the repaired or replacement item to the original UK delivery address or another UK address we agree.

If the original version is unavailable, we will offer a suitable equivalent with the same or better relevant specification and discuss any material differences with you. If repair or replacement cannot be provided, we will offer a refund of the price paid for the affected product. This does not replace any wider remedy you have under the law.

A repair or replacement continues the remaining original warranty period; it does not restart the 10-year or 25-year period. Your statutory rights in relation to the remedy remain unaffected. Where we replace an item, we may ask for the replaced item to be returned at our cost.

If glass is cracked, loose or separating, stop work or use as appropriate, keep people clear and seek professional help to make the area safe. Do not fit a visibly damaged or unsafe product. Contact us promptly so we can assess the issue.

09

Your statutory rights

If you are a consumer, meaning an individual buying wholly or mainly for purposes outside your trade, business, craft or profession, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Goods must meet the applicable legal standards, including satisfactory quality, fitness for a purpose made known to us and correspondence with their description.

Depending on the circumstances and the legal time limits, you may be entitled to reject faulty goods, obtain a repair or replacement, receive a price reduction or refund, or claim compensation. You can use these rights whether or not a fault falls within this voluntary warranty. Our claims procedure does not change any legal rules about evidence or who must prove a fault.

Nothing in this warranty excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, liability for defective products that cannot legally be excluded, or any other liability or right that the law does not allow us to exclude or restrict.

Business purchases remain subject to the applicable contract and law. Any exclusion or limitation applies only where lawful.

10

Complaints and applicable law

If you disagree with an assessment, contact us and ask for a review, including any additional evidence. We will explain our response and provide any independent dispute resolution information required by law. Our assessment does not remove your right to seek independent advice or use the courts.

This warranty is governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers retain any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings in the courts of their home part of the United Kingdom.

12

The version that applies to your purchase

This version will apply to orders placed on or after its publication. Earlier orders retain the warranty terms and legally binding promises that applied when they were placed. Later website updates will not reduce the cover already provided for your purchase.

Any more favourable legally binding warranty promise made for your order, including in associated advertising, remains effective. These terms do not replace such a promise with less favourable cover.

For installation information, visit the Installation Guides page. For change-of-mind returns and cancellation information, see our Returns Policy. Those policies do not restrict your rights concerning faulty goods.
